My sketchbook is one of the most important parts of my studio practice. It carries my thoughts, my plans, and my working process when a physical space is not available. I have over 60 sketchbooks that I have kept in various forms over the years. These are some exerpts from various books from the last 4 years.

I constantly draw. From observation, scribbles notes, lists and jot down ideas as they come to me doodles which open up the intense nature of imagination. Abstract design is pure when it comes from the impulses that are quick and immidiate, yet overly simple. These pages are where I work out ideas, gain confidence and compile ideas for the future. I grew up drawing the figure, but the bulk of my work is not figureative. I seek to draw beauty that is beneath the skin.

On a side note...

I am a huge fan of Moleskine sketchbooks....but now I make my own. If you are interested in any of my handmade sketchbooks, please contact me.
